Principals Message

Welcome to Sato Academy of Mathematics and Science, home of the Dragons!

It is with great Pride that I share this Sato experience with you.  In today's fast moving and highly technologically advanced work environment, Sato works to prepare, support, explore and enhance every student's experience toward becoming a productive citizen through the lens of both Engineering and Biomedical Sciences.

At Sato, students take accelerated, honors and advanced course work that exceeds the A-G requirements for college admissions.  We partner with both Long Beach City College and California State University to give our students academic and lab experience beyond the high school requirements.  Our Engineering and Biomedical Science programs come from the highly regarded Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and our teachers are Career Tech Ed (CTE) credentialed bringing real world work relevance to every day class room experiences.

Our students enjoy participating and competing in science and math based programs through clubs such as:  Health Organization Student Association (HOSA), Mathematics & Engineering Student Achievement (MESA), Drones, Robotic Flight, Rocketry, VEX, Solar Boat, Electric Car, Underwater Rovers, Key Club, California Student Federation (CSF) & STEAM/Makerspace just to name a few.

While we are only beginning our 3rd year as a new school, we are already accredited by WASC and continue to build a program that will rival the top schools in the LBUSD district as well as the nation.

We invite anyone interested in visiting Sato to join us for our High School Choice recruiting opportunities which will be posted on our main page by the end of October if not earlier.  We also welcome the community and visitors to join us for Open House in late May.

If you have questions that are not easily answered by the information on the website, please call our office as we are excited to share the many great accomplishments that our students are attaining with so much possibility yet to be discovered.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Merlo
